Welcome! This is the Polymer Latex Film Home Pages of Dr. Paul Steward.

by Dr. Paul A. Steward.

Note on the Use of Frames in Web Browsers.
Many of the pages listed here are literature reviews. I have therefore utilised frames in such a way that text can be seen in an upper frame within your browser, whilst the references can be seen in a lower frame. I recommend that you use a frames-capable browser to view these pages.

However, in view of the fact that not everybody has such a browser, I am starting to produce alternative versions of the pages which do not utilise frames. These pages are much bigger, and therefore take longer to load (eg, approx. 60 secs at 33.3K). Please be patient. They are also more difficult to navigate - but at least they work!

The following list indicates whether the links require frames or not.

For a computer, we like:

Alternative graphical-based polymer Index page. This is the preferred page for accessing this site. These text based links are intended for users of older browsers only (eg, pre-Microsoft Internet Explorer 3 or pre-Netscape Navigator 3).
Permeability of Latex Films. (No Frames.) Nottingham Trent University Thesis: Modification of the Permeability of Polymer Latex Films., Paul Steward, 1995.
Filling a much needed gap in the scientific literature base, this is the abstract of a collaborative research programme with the Chemical & Biological Defence Establishment, Porton Down, on sustained/controlled release coatings.
Simple Preparation of a surfactant-free poly(butyl methacrylate) latex. (No frames.)
Literature review of polymer latex particle Surface Chemistry/Functionality. (Frames.)
For an alternative no frames version Click Here.
Literature review of Latex Film Formation and particle coalescence. (Frames.)
For an alternative no frames version Click Here.
Literature review of Controlled/Sustained Release mechanisms and devices. (Frames.)
For an alternative no frames version Click Here.
Fick's Laws of diffusion. (Relevant to the permeability of latex films.) (No frames.)
List of Journal Articles referring to: polymer latices; film formation; sustained/controlled release formulations, etc. Over 800 papers referenced; mostly pre-1995. (Frames.)
For an alternative no frames version Click Here. Note: This files is extremely large (250 KB) and may take a few minutes to load into your browser. Please be patient and allow it to load in full.
List of links to other sites on the subject of Polymers, Latices & Controlled Release, etc. (No frames. Does contain some JavaScript for navigation, but this is not needed to use the links. Simply use your browsers scroll bars instead.)
